A Perth woman has revealed her incredible weight loss transformation that changed her life forever.
By August 2023, Holly Gaylard had reached her heaviest weight of 231 pounds, while she was barely fitting into her size 18-20 clothes due to her weight.
The 25-year-old was at a low point in her life.
After her family experienced an unimaginable tragedy, she began to find solace in food and alcohol, turning into a devastating addiction.
Her days would be filled with eating unhealthy, calorie-packed meals and she felt her life “revolved around drinking” while she rarely did any exercise at all.
But in just eight months, she managed to lose 77kg and four dress sizes, turning her life around – and now feels healthier than ever in her new 154kg physique.
“I was quite chubby as a child and I was never at a super healthy weight,” she told news.com.au.
“I was in a bad relationship from the age of 15-22, which had a huge impact on my mental health and in turn, weight gain.
“I never felt good enough and never put myself first. I reached a point where I loved alcohol more than life.
“I was very addicted and drank every day. I also liked food like pasta, ice cream and fast food.
“None of them would fill me up, so I would eat huge amounts of it. It was a vicious cycle.”
In June 2023, her family suffered a terrible tragedy after Holly’s sister lost one of her twin boys when they were just one month old.
She said this kind of loss was unbearable for her and broke her family in ways she never imagined.
Two months later, Holly reached her heaviest weight and decided enough was enough: it was time to pull herself out of the darkness.
Looking at her body in the mirror, she knew it was time for a change.
“Being overweight just makes everything so difficult,” she said.
“I was always the biggest girl in my group of friends and I felt like I was always neglected.
“When I was in my prime, I couldn’t go on some water slides because of my size and even had to weigh myself in front of a crowd at Adventure World to go on a ride.
“I could have died of shame.
“One of the worst times was when a man shouted at me in a club that I looked like a fat whale.”
“That must have been one of the most horrible things anyone has ever said to me. It was deadly.â€
With her mental health at a low point, Holly began to make small changes to her lifestyle and slowly began to feel better about herself with each passing day.
To help keep her on track and motivated, she followed Bridget’s Healthy Kitchen (BHK) program, which provides clients with nutritionally balanced recipes to aid weight loss.
“I struggled mentally most of my life and I never knew why or how to fix it,” she explained.
“But since eating Bridget’s Healthy Kitchen, it has completely transformed my mental health like you wouldn’t believe.
“Even in my early childhood, I would describe myself as chubby and could never keep the weight off.
“I’ve never been so healthy in my life.”
While Holly says she doesn’t work out regularly, her job at Boost Juice keeps her physically active throughout the week.
Now after losing an amazing 77 kilograms, she feels better than ever and looks forward to a healthier and brighter future.
“I honestly feel incredible, I have so much energy all the time and feel so much more confident,” she wrote.
“I am much happier. I would encourage anyone looking to change their life to just get started.
“It doesn’t matter if you start with big or small steps, just start. That’s the most important step.
“Health is so important and it’s something we should all prioritize.”
